5 Business Ideas/DIY Gifts from Home Basket Manila

In a couple of months, the most anticipated season of the retail industry will happen:  Christmas time!  Studies show that businesses earn 70% of their annual revenue during the holidays.  What perfect time than to start now for businesses to prepare for this much anticipated earning, I mean giving,  season.

Here at Home Basket Manila, I have prepared some business ideas that you could start developing as early as now.  If you do not have any business inclinations, you can also do some DIY gifts for friends and family.  After all, what could be more sweeter than a gift made from the heart?

Here are some of Home Basket Manila’s ideas:

Massage Oils

Massage oils are very easy and quick to make.  It is something that can be appreciated by everyone since the gift of relaxation is universal and does not choose gender or age.

To make massage oils, you need the following:

Carrier oil (top choices for me:  Grapeseed oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Coconut Oil)

Essential Oils (top choices for me: Lavender, Peppermint, or Bergamot)

Directions:  For every ½ cup of carrier oil,  put 15-20 drops of essential oil. You can mix and match essential oils depending on your preference, e.g. 5 drops lavender, 5 drops peppermint and 5 drops bergamot.  Mix well and that’s it. Super easy and does not require special tools to make.

Room and Linen Spray, Surface Cleaners and Poo Spray

Bring the lavender fields to your family and friends with this relaxing room and linen spray. I have also discovered that this is also the same process for surface cleaners. Surprisingly, this can also be used as a poo spray.  If you still haven’t heard what a poo spray is,  it’s what you spray in the toilet bowl to freshen the air while you do your private thing, well, to keep it private.  This is perfect for your working friends that may need some extra level of privacy since they spend a long period of time in their offices with shared bathrooms.

Just make a big batch and repackage them to different products.

You will need the following:

  • 1/4 cup vodka
  • 1/4 cup alcohol
  • 10 drops lavender essential oils
  • 5 drops bergamot essential oils
  • 5 drops lemon essential oils

Mix the ingredients and place them in containers.

 Essential Oils

I have been mentioning essential oils as an ingredient but you can also give them as a gift.  Place them in containers with droppers or amber colored bottles.   Your best friend or your cousin who loves DIY would surely be excited to use your gift when they make their own projects.

 Hair and Body Care

Girlfriends are definitely going to love receiving gifts that are meant to enhance natural beauty!  This  body scrub is easy to make with simple ingredients but really big on effectiveness.

Epsom Salt Scrub

2 cups Epsom salts or sugar

1 cup carrier oil

8-10 drops of your favorite essential oil.

Add Epsom salts to a bowl and slowly begin stirring in the oil until mixture is smooth.  Add essential oil and mix well. Spoon into a decorative container or glass jar with a tight-fitting lid.

With the increasing awareness of a zero-waste lifestyle to protect the environment, there has been an increasing demand for products that supports this cause.  One of these products are shampoo bars.  Click on the link below for instructions on how to make shampoo bars and soap.  https://www.diynatural.com/homemade-shampoo-bar-diy/

Pet Care

These furbabies are definitely getting their share of pampering with a variety of products to choose from.

Flea and Tick Collar for Dogs

1 cup of water (double if your dog is sensitive to smell)

1 tablespoon carrier oil (for additional dilution)

2 drops of Lavender

1 drops of Citronella

Mix these ingredients together in a bowl using a wire whisk, then soak cotton bandannas into the mixture and let dry in the sun.  This will work with dog collars too, but don’t get the mixture on any plastic parts; some oils (specifically citrus oils) will degrade the plastic.

Calming Mist for Dogs

3 drops of Rosemary

1 drop of Chamomile

1 drop of Lavender

8-ounce spray bottle

Mix the ingredients, fill the bottle with water, and add the lid.  I spray the mist around the dogs, not directly in their face.  Or I spray the mist into the palms of my hands and massage their neck, back, and chest t help them relax.

I am not in any way related to this website but I am just amazed at the choices of packaging materials that would surely help you with these ideas:  http://unlipack.com/

Remember though that an excellent product does not guarantee success in business.  It has to go hand-in-hand with a solid marketing plan to get it out there in the market.  Unleash your creativity in conceptualizing and executing product design, marketing and business plan.
